Passing Through This Life

Assalamu alaikum  So another year and ramadan is upon us ..but this ramadan is different as we all have to stay home ...no praying in he masjids ... no community iftars .... no family and friends coming together .... but one thing it does have is time ... time to reflect on ourselves ...and a time to get closer to Allah ... we can only hope that by doing this Allah will lift this virus and show us how to become better  As for food and what to cook this year will be the same as most years ... i no longer make large amounts of food ...i like to keep it simple.... i will have some soup also know as chourba .... some days i make boreak and other days i make my version of a sausage roll but with chicken and some salad and thats it  Ramadan isnt about how full we can make our stomachs it about learning and growing ..about feeling how those who are without food feel ..its about the body fixing its self ... its about restraint and will power  ...

Assalamu Alakium So its been nearly a month since the birth of my second grandchild  and wow has it been hectic ... his big sister is nearly 2 and such a handful , i find this generation of kids are different to when i grew up or even to when i had my kids ....  So far what we have dealt with is the boy having to have numerous blood test done due to jaundice , its amazing as to the level it gets to in order to have these tests done ... alhamdu lilah everything was fine but still as the yellow is still in he eyes he had to go for a prolong jaundice test to make sure its nothing to do with the liver so now we wait for the results Im in such awe with this little fellow to the point that when he cries and does this special thing with his bottom lip i find my heart breaks and all i want to do is pick him up and cuddle him and then he does it a second time and  find tears coming into my eyes ,,,,ive become one of those soppy grandmothers lol,,, But r...

When i started this blog i never knew what i was really going to post . i started out with doing posts about food but when on a budget their really is only so much you can post about then theirs the hobbies i had which was crocheting but also stopped for a while i did take it up again and started on a new blanket for my grandson to be pics will come once im done . then the family grew kids are all much older now .my son is 22 and doing well in his studies . and my daughters well as i said before one of my daughters got married and has been for over 2 years now she had her first baby in January 2018 and now is due her second who at this time is 4 days over due . so now that the family has grown time to change the way i post . i hope to do more cooking but also take about life as a grandmother too and the differences between me raising my kids and the way my daughter and her husband may choose to raise their i know their will be a few opinions going back and forth but i see that ...

Asalamu Alikum  Subhan Allah i had such plans for my blog in ramadan and was so looking forward to it as i was enjoying posting again ... and then my hubby says that were ok to the uk for a few weeks which went on for the whole of ramadan and eid which i didnt enough ...but Alhamdu lilah i back in dz and rearing to go ... so stay tuned

Asalamu Alikum  Yay a new post  In the time i wa away ... i had made a few things and took picture so as to when i had internet again i could blog and post the pics ... then the stupid phone played up and i lost everything so i have had to start off again  my eldest daughter has become a dab hand in baking and really enjoys it more than i do ... so as she does something for the home i will share with you ... the picture above is a spongecake with cinnamon added and she made homemade custard ... this was her second attempt at making custard and she finally got it and was so happy ... i dont help her inthe kitchen she just gets an idea and goes with it  recipe for sponge is here with some cinnamon added  and the custard is made with  3 cups of milk  4 egg yolks 3 tbsp of cornstarch half tsp of salt or none whatever you like  half cup of sugar /100grams 2tbsp of butter pinch of vanilla  

  Ramdan is coming  Oh my peeps ... i keep saying this and then nothing it has been way too long  Alhamdu lilah i'm back on line and moving to my new home soon and just in time for ramadan ...i'm so looking forward to this and to getting back in to posting on my blog ... thank you to those who have sent messages and to those who follow me .... if their is anyone who would like to post a guest post and a recipe or two then please get in touch i would love to write you up on my blog as a way of saying thank you

Asalamu Alikum Subhan`allah it has been way too long since i posted anything here ... i kind of lost myself when it has come to cooking and have tended to stick with the same thing over and over again... but ma'shaa'allah ramadan is coming and even tho i want this year to be about worship and pleasing allah cooking also will come into this ... i will try to stick not not cooking as much as i have done in previous years and try to stick to the way i did it last year ... So  masha`allah we have reached the half way mark in ramadan and how are we feeling about it all well i have to say good masha`allah ...have i managed to reach the goals i set for myself ... not all of them but i`m getting their masha`allah do i think i can do more........ well i think we always can do more .... we should never settle as we ourselves dont know weither what we have done is enough or not One thing i can say is that this ramadan i have concentrated more on my salat and feel at ease and so calm while praying as well as learning some new duas  tomorrow i will have a day to relax as i have made enough food to last the two days so no cooking for me so i will take this time to try to learn some quran My son whos my eldest goes to the masjid everyday and is about to start his 5th hisbh of the quran and masha`allah i`m so proud of him as well as my girls they also do quran but only once a week as their been thought by a female teacher who can only mana...

Isnt it amazing how your days just mange to slip away and then you sit down and think wow where did today go .... this has been happening alot lately ... it`s even amazing how the year passes by so quick well for us it has and i cant believe that it was nearly a year ago my dad came to visit and already coming again .... this week end he will be here for the second time ... but staying a little longer than before ...all the kids are so excited even the little one as she knows he has some gifts for her even this last month has been one for the books ... it has been busy and to say that with out my dh being here .... my son fractured his arm which meant that i needed to do more of the outside chores that he does for me and these days i would rather sit at home .... also the kids have had exams and alhamdu`lilah they have come out the other side of it ... with two of them getting excellent marks and comment form teachers ... and one not so good ... but she will have next term to ma...

oh it has been to long since i blogged last ... with all the sickness in my home their wasn't really any time let one time for myself ... i had made a few new dishes but never got to take pic as my phone is playing up it keep freezing on me worse than the pc  so their was no chance to take pics i even made a few fingerless gloves or hand warmers and those too i couldn't take pics of ...and this was the first time i actually made them .... i took ideas form different patterns and brought them together ... they ended up simple but lovely and so lovely that friends of my daughter asked for me to make them and sell them to them so that's what i did ... but only on the days where i was up to it ...alhamdu`lilah it only takes a few hours to make them or they would never be made well that's about it .... i hope insha`allah soon to get back to blogging a bit more especially before my father comes next month so until then i will leave you with this Good manners ...

well thats the question ... what have i been doing or up to ..... well over the last month and a half my life has changed ... i have become more grounded and know where i ant to go with it .... even my dh has found a new lease of life that has affected all of us ..... sometimes we get so caught up in the day to day of our lives that we forget whats the most important and that is allah  and the reason we are here .... so this past month we have step it up and making sure that all in our house prays on time ... makes dikhr all the time ... we have even reduced the amount of tv watched ... masha`allah since we have been doing this  things are looking different  ... we feel lighter in our ways quran is played more and i have even gone back to reading and studying too ... which is great ... i`m loving this new lease on life and alhamdul`ilah allah has given us this chance too as you will have seen i havent posted much for a while and this begin the reason ... i havent...

so it has been a couple of weeks since i wrote a post  .... so now my routine has changed again ......i have had to start budgeting and menu planning so this has changed the way i do things a little i still get up at 6 and then after breakfast and bedrooms tidyed and 5the 2 year old dressed and feed it`s time to take the kids to school so by 8:15 i`m back i sit and have a cuppa and when thats finished i will get into the cleaning .... masha`allah by 10/ 10:30 i will be finished and when my hubby is here i will make some lunch unless i have something left over form the night before then i will heat that up and maybe make some small and light to go with it ... now on some days i will have to go back to the school to pick up the kids around 12 but most days it`s 4 .... so if i dont need to pick them up until four then i will feed those who need their lunch and after this clean up and start to prepare the dinner for the evening ... some time i will cook it through and o...

so it is coming up to a year since i started blogging ...... i first started out with wordpress ....... but found that bloger was a better option ... so i moved everything over ....and it was the best decision i made . i wasnt sure how it was going to work out as i never blogged before and i wasnt sure if many ppl would even be interested in what i posted but after the year it has shown that yes ppl seem to like it so i wanted to say a big thank you all so much for taking time to follow me and my life ... and i hope that you continue to keep following  in the years to come THANK YOU

So yes we have ramadan around the corner ........ so what will we do this year to get ready ...... well so far its the cleaning that takes up the time as here in algeria most houses give a great clean as they dont have time during ramadan ........ so kitchens are done and that means walls and every nuck and cranny  that you can think of as well as bathrooms and toilet and other rooms in the house and with this all walls are washed down but for me yes i do a good clean but i like to think of how ramadan  will benefit me and my family and how we can please allah in this time too so insha`allah as a family we will once again read quran and revise the surahs we have learned and insha`allah we will also try to learn more also insha`allah i`m hoping to meet a sister that i havent really meet yet but have spoken to many time on skype so what are you ladies going to do to get ready this year *!_ *!* Ram adan is coming *!_ *!* Ramadan is here, Here is Ramadan.
