i pack of rishta

i chicken

luft (white raddish) or you can use parsnip

black pepper

chop the onion small add chicken pieces and place in a pot with a little oil and cook for a few mins then add spices and chickpeas

and place lid on leave fora few mins then add some water

halve way through add veg  in the meantime prepare the rishta , this can be steamed the same way as cous cous

it`s just cauliflower with a bachemal sauce and cheese of your choice , i can only really get cheddar here , their are other but i`m not a cheese person so i don`t bother

and if my dh was here i would put some garlic in the bachemal as that is the only way my dh will eat cauliflower

You do realise you have set off a massive craving in me so I HAVE to get the veggies this weekend!

well i could have sent some in the post nicola but not sure what i would have looked like by the time it got their

  3. LOL - OK I misunderstood so I'll let you off... this time!

Oh well, I guess I will just have to make do with my own rishta and hope it looks like yours in the picture insha'Allah!

  4. when you come to algeria i will make it especially for you nicola

  5. Assalamo alaikum,

Do you make the actual rishta yourself, or do you buy it ready? I'd love to try making it, do you have a method?

  6. wa ali kum aslam ummsalam

no i don`t make the rishta as i don`t have the machine to do it but i hope to one day insha`allah

as far as i know the way to make it is the same as spaghetti but i will check to see as i know my neighbour makes it

  7. Assalaamu alaikum

Umm Salam, it is the same method as making spaghetti. I made it with a Libyan sister once - just flour and water and thn it goes through the pasta machine until it's nice and thin and we dried it on the backs of chairs, lol!

Umm Imran, made it today, yay!

  8. masha`allah nicola thats great did you enjoy it or was the craving gone by the time you made it

  9. assalamu alaykum

Pocasi/ split green pea soup

Asalamu alikum Well it sure has been a long time since i posted so i thought let me share this Pocasi recipe with you while i remember This soup is made from split green peas first i wash the peas and then add them to my pot (i used a pressure cooker) i added onion ... garlic..... i diced up carrots ...courgettes...and potato into  really small bits and added to the pot i also added black pepper....salt ...cumin...and razel hanut.... fill with water and placed lid on  and allowed to cook about 30 to 40 mins in total ... then let the pressure out and open then  stir.... if you need more water add and allow to cook towards the end add some tomato puree and allow to thicken up a little .... when i make this i do not use oil and i should say that this type of soup will continue to thicken and even the next day you will need to add more water to thin out ... but masha`allah is a really nice soup
