something different

so today i decided to try something different

i have never cook this dish before but masha`allah it came out really nice

and even i used fresh fennel and was able to hide the fact that it was their as my kids would never have eaten it

chicken breast

black pepper

dice onion and chicken and place in a pot add a little oil and cook on a low heat then add the spinach and fennel that has been cut into strips

and then the spices and cook for a few mins then add water or stock and cook on a medium heat

when half cooked add rice and continue until rice is cooked and their is a little sauce
then place on a big plate and let cool for a little while so that some of the sauce will be soaked up
and eat with bread

  1. Essalam Alaikum Sis, Masha'allah looks yummy! I love fennel, we eat it often!

  2. ohh jazak`allah khair sis it was really yummy and the kids really enjoyed it they finished the lot masha`allah

Pocasi/ split green pea soup

Asalamu alikum Well it sure has been a long time since i posted so i thought let me share this Pocasi recipe with you while i remember This soup is made from split green peas first i wash the peas and then add them to my pot (i used a pressure cooker) i added onion ... garlic..... i diced up carrots ...courgettes...and potato into  really small bits and added to the pot i also added black pepper....salt ...cumin...and razel hanut.... fill with water and placed lid on  and allowed to cook about 30 to 40 mins in total ... then let the pressure out and open then  stir.... if you need more water add and allow to cook towards the end add some tomato puree and allow to thicken up a little .... when i make this i do not use oil and i should say that this type of soup will continue to thicken and even the next day you will need to add more water to thin out ... but masha`allah is a really nice soup
