Croissant Brioche

Masha`allah today i had a really good afternoon ....and it brighten my day as dh is away and i was feeling a little low

Thanks to my friends Being Kate and kazzy and even better than that was the learning of something new to give my kids for their breaks  for school

so what did i learn well Croissant brioche  masha`allah they were wonderful so soft and light and before they were gone cos believe me they didn't last very long i remembered to take a photo it was the last 2 that were left but better than nothing

4 1/2 cups of flour
2 tbsp of yeast
2tbsp of sugar
2 tsp of salt

2 eggs mixed
1/4 a cup of butter (melted)
1 and 1/4 cups of milk (warm) mix both butter and milk together and then temper the eggs to it

1 bar of chocolate dark

then add wet ingredients to dry and mix and knead you may need to add xtra flour till the dough is soft and not sticky

allow to rise for about 45mins then punch out .. half the dough into 2 balls and then roll out into a circle then using a pizza cutter if you have one half the circle and each half circle half and then half again so you should have about 8 triangles form each circle

then each triangle roll it out abit and the to the side place some chopped up chocolate and roll from the wider egde to the shorter one and it looks like a croissant  brush egg wash on top and allw to rise just a little and place in oven

it sgould take about 20 mins to cook

and thats it masha`allah ... give it a try and drop by and let us know

Guest post From Halal Home Cooking ....Pancakes with a twist

As-Salaamu Alaykum I'm Umm Hamza from  Halal Home Cooking  today I'm sharing a recipe for a breakfast staple with a twist. Pancakes are my children's favourite breakfast food. They will gladly eat cereal with milk, creamy porridge and jam/jelly doughnuts but unlike those aforementioned staples that only get half to three quarters eaten because A. they turn soggy B. get's cold and sticky or c. no jam left, pancakes will  always  be eaten, no excuses. Once you've honed your basic pancake recipe you are free to experiment with flavour combinations and that's exactly how these chai spiced chocolate and tahini pancakes came about ma sha Allah Source :  http://www.drinkmechai.co.uk/chai/latte/spiced-chai-latte.html I found this chai spiced latte powder whilst searching 'halal' during my on-line grocery shopping. I'm always hoping when hitting that search button new products will pop up and this time it d

Pocasi/ split green pea soup

Asalamu alikum Well it sure has been a long time since i posted so i thought let me share this Pocasi recipe with you while i remember This soup is made from split green peas first i wash the peas and then add them to my pot (i used a pressure cooker) i added onion ... garlic..... i diced up carrots ...courgettes...and potato into  really small bits and added to the pot i also added black pepper....salt ...cumin...and razel hanut.... fill with water and placed lid on  and allowed to cook about 30 to 40 mins in total ... then let the pressure out and open then  stir.... if you need more water add and allow to cook towards the end add some tomato puree and allow to thicken up a little .... when i make this i do not use oil and i should say that this type of soup will continue to thicken and even the next day you will need to add more water to thin out ... but masha`allah is a really nice soup

Pizza Roll

Asalamu Alikum For months my oven hasn't worked and all of a sudden it was working again so the first thing i made was pizza roll ... while doing this i was teaching my daughter my 13 year old how to do this as my 15 year old already knows how to this is basically the samr as the homemade pizza i make only the sauce is a little different ... all i do is use tomato puree and add spices of my choice and then i thin it out to make it easier to spread it is roll out like normal pizza here is my recipe for that you can add any topping and then just take the side and roll the dough till it's like a log ... then cut into rounds and place on tray ... i will add cheese on top as well as the cheese that is inside and then bake for about 15 to 20 mins
