Relax and bake

Masha`allah .... allah has blessed me with the husband i have and the family i have

so i bet your wondering why i`m saying this a.... well let me tell you .... at the beginning or ramadan i tolad my dh i wasnt going down the same ramadan road of cooking ..cooking.... cooking that ramadan iant about that and masha`allah he agreed.... so i tld him that things will be simple and not too much

well masha`allah thats how it has happened .... usually on my table we would have borak  and pizza as well as other things like the chourba ... and if it wasnt borak then some sort of pies .... well this year i have done one item every day so one day borak ...one day pizza.... one day pies ... you see how it goes

so a few days ago i had no cooking and decided that i would treat everybody and thats what i did ... i made apple tart some biscuits and these wonderful stuffed bread rolls

I started by making the apple tart and found that i had messed up the ingredients by adding sugar to the recipe so i thought theirs no way i`m wasting that so i thought that i would just bake them and see if anyone will eat them ... well i have to say they went down a treat

Recipe For Biscuits

8oz flour
4oz marg
4oz sugar
cold water to bring it to a dough

now my kids tell me that i should reduce the amount of sugar for the next time so insha`allah maybe you should do the same

Recipe For Apple Tart

8oz flour
4oz marg

cold water to bring it to a dough

some sugar and apples to fill the base .

These are the stuffed bread rolls i mentioned ... and these were a real surprise masha`allah .... i was told about them by my friend as she was/is making them .... the recipe comes form here

I know they dont look the same as the pic of the original recipe ...  but not far off .... these we will be making again

so enjoy your time in the kitchen and do share what you have made

La Koka (algerian pizza)

we are one for pizza and this ramdan you can believe that alot of pizza was made  and eaten .... but last year i remember my dh coming home and saying i will teach you a new one ...so i said go ahead masha`allah it was delicious ....the amazing thing was their is no cheese on this pizza ...(what i hear you say).... yes no cheese so basically  i use the same pizza dough as here then i spread just tomato puree and not the sauce i usually use all over the dough ... then i cut fresh tomatoes in circles and for my dh we take the seeds out as he believes their not good for the stomach ...and i place these around the dough and into the middle .... now what make this pizza it i place sardines that have been salted and the salt remains on it  this i open and take the bones out and tear it  into little pieces and place aound the pizza when finished place in oven till dough is cooked then take out and brush some oil normal oil over the top and cut and eat ... believe you...

French Laof

Asalam wa alikum So as you know i`m not really one for baking ... but when a good recipe comes my way i must tell you about it I have had this recipe for a while and never got around to trying it so as i was making my muffin bread i thought let me try this one ... Its a french loaf and so simple and easy 2 cups of water (warm) 2 tbsp sugar 2 tbsp of yeast instant 2 tbsp of salt ... i felt it was a bit too much so i reduced it to 1 2 tbsp of oil (veg) 5 cups of flour mix well and knead dough then allow to rise punch back the dough then place on a tray allow to rise again and place in a hot oven it takes about 20 mins or so and masha`allah what a lovely bread we toasted it and had butter and jam for breakfeast enjoy and let me know how it works out

whats cooking

so today my mil brought me some rishta and chicken , so that was dinner for tonight rishta and i done something extra cauliflower and cheese which i love it`s a piety i didnt have brown sauce to go on top .... i know not nice ... but to me it is ingredents i pack of rishta i chicken chickpeas onion courggets luft (white raddish) or you can use parsnip black pepper salt cinnamon method chop the onion small add chicken pieces and place in a pot with a little oil and cook for a few mins then add spices and chickpeas and place lid on leave fora few mins then add some water halve way through add veg  in the meantime prepare the rishta , this can be steamed the same way as cous cous it`s just cauliflower with a bachemal sauce and cheese of your choice , i can only really get cheddar here , their are other but i`m not a cheese person so i don`t bother and if my dh was here i would put some garlic in the bachemal as that is the only way my dh will eat cauliflower enjoy
